John Degenkolb finds a bright side while lying exhausted (and frustrated) by the Doha roadside after a disastrous 2016 World Championship Road Race for Germany. The year started terribly when Degenkolb was one of several Giant-Alpecin riders to be badly injured when struck by a car on a training ride and never reached close to the heights he would have hoped. But as he says he is still alive and surely few would begrudge him a big change of fortune in 2017 when he links with new team, Trek-Segafredo.
