If you don’t know him, Ernie is one of the real legends of the Sydney cycling scene, a wonderful bloke who’s been around since Adam was a boy, and happens to be a darn fine photographer too. This morning as we rolled in for our usual post-ride coffee, I couldn’t help but notice Ernie removing a layer of newspaper from under his jersey. Yes, some people still do it.
“It really works Pete, it’s cheap and 100% recyclable. When it gets a bit warm you just take out a few pages – and if nature calls, well, you have something to read. In fact, you can event use it as toilet paper in an emergency, it’s better than grass!” I bet it is Ernie, I bet.
