Love a bit of retro, so was delighted to receive the link, below, from Tony M. The 1953 Tour de France took place over 22 stages and covered a truly epic 4,479km (by comparison, the 2013 Tour ‘only’ covered 3,404km). After winning two stages along the way, Frenchman Louison Bobet seized the overall yellow by more than 14 minutes from countryman Jean Mallejac, the first of his three consecutive victories. LIFE magazine was there to document the race. Click the link for a fine selection of their photos…
