Just been through the start list for the final Monument of 2013, this Sunday’s 242km Giro di Lombardia. What an incredible field. With a few notable but not surprising exceptions, pretty much all the top dogs from the men’s road race in Tuscany last weekend are backing up in Bergamo.
Rui Costa. Nibali. Sagan. Last year’s winner, Rodriguez. Valverde. Gilbert. Van Garderen. Schleck. Moreno. Mollema. Basso. Martin. Scarponi. Quintana. Froome. Chavanel. Uran. Contador. Roche. Gesink. Plus ten Aussies including Michael Rogers, Simon Clarke, Luke Durbridge, Michael Matthews and Lachlan Morton.
They’ll all be looking to finish their season with a flourish. Which, of course, can only mean one thing: no sleep on Sunday night. Again.
