What a Tour for the Orica-GreenEDGE boys! It started with the wedged bus on Corsica in Stage 1. Saw Gerrans win the team’s first ever TDF stage two days later, then a superb TTT in Stage 4 in Nice saw not only a second stage win in as many days, but catapulted Gerrans into the yellow jersey (and the team into yellow helmets). Two days later team-mate Impey took over the maillot jaune to create yet more history as the first ever South African to wear the yellow. Not long after this, the team launched its highly anticipated ACDC tribute video, which had everyone laughing even more than the wedged bus fiasco. Michael Albasini then went within a whisker of a third stage win for the team on Stage 14. Things went a little quiet in the Alps, but Canadian Svein Tuft ensured a big finish by expertly snaffling the Lantern Rouge in the last few days. Oh, and let’s not forget team captain Stu O’Grady has now equalled George Hincapie’s record of 17 Tours – incredible! Pretty much the only thing missing was a sprint win for Gossy. But there’s still tonight, right?
