For a long time the 2013 Tour seemed to be at the mercy of Team Sky once again. Porte is flying and will provide outstanding support to in-form team leader, Chris Froome. But this year there’s no Wiggins. There’s no Rogers. And it remains to be seen if the departing Uran, should he even ride, will have his heart and mind on the job when the going gets really tough. Throw in the class of Evans, Contador and Rodriguez and the rapidly-emerging threat of Van Garderen and – even without Nibali who’s next major target is the World Championships in Tuscany – it could be an absolute cracker.
